“Danger: Avoid Death”

Michigan Lawsuit Abuse Watch released the winners in its annual “Wacky Warning Label Contest.” The contest is designed to draw attention to how the fear of lawsuits is driving companies to affix mind-numbingly obvious warnings to a wide array of products. Some of this year’s finalists include:

> An iron-on T-shirt transfer that warns: “Do not iron while wearing shirt;”

> A letter-opener that included a warning label that read: “Caution: Safety goggles recommended;” and

> An all-encompassing label on a small tractor that warns: “Danger: Avoid Death.”
